Dear Evan Hansen is a musical about a socially anxious high school student who invents a significant role for himself in the death of a classmate, Connor Murphy, to gain connection and validation from Connor's grieving family, leading to a complex web of lies and a reckoning with himself and the truth when his deception is exposed.
